Group Meeting: Before we start group meeting every day, I play a dance video that gets us up and moving. The movement gets our brains working and works out some of the wiggles that we have. Yesterday, we did Freeze Dance and today's song was If You're a Kid.
Story: The story for today was Harry the Dirty Dog by Gene Zion. Harry is a white dog who does not like to take baths. One day, Harry hears the water running and thinks that he is going to get a bath. He buries the scrub brush in the back yard and runs away. While he is gone, he gets very dirty and becomes a black dog. When he gets hungry and returns home, his owners do not recognize him. Ask your child to tell you what happens next. After reading this story, we compared the story from yesterday to today's. They were both about mistaken identity!
Large Group: Zoey and Max were back to tell us about our rule "We take care of ourselves". They gave us several examples such as walking, using a tissue, washing hands, putting things away, and how to use scissors. There is a note in your child's bag about our school rules.
Snacks: The snack for today was Wheat Thins and cheese with water to drink.
Have a wonderful long weekend!

A Great First Day!
Group Meeting: The children learned about the message board. The message board lists the activities for the day. I put a sticker on our 10 frame counting chart. We will add a sticker every day so that we can keep track of how many days that we have been in school.
Story: The story for today was Little Blue and Little Yellow by Leo Lionni. Little Blue and Little Yellow are friends. They have a mama and a papa. Little Blue and Little Yellow love to play together. One day, Little Blue was looking for Little Yellow. When he found him, he gave him a big hug. When they hugged, the Little Blue and Little Yellow mixed to make green. Now they are Little Green. Will their parents recognize them? Ask your child to tell you what happens at the end.
Large Group: The children listened to Max and Zoey (puppets) tell about the school rules. A note will be sent home tomorrow so that you will know our school rules.
The children went to the Outdoor Classroom to enjoy playing outside on this beautiful day!
Snacks: The children had Cinnamon Sugar Belvita bars and apple juice.
I thought the car line went very well for the first day. The name cards really helped. Thanks!

My Pets
I have four pets at my house. Three are cats and one is a duck. The cats that I have are ones that just showed up at my house. Marvin appeared first as a little kitten. We couldn't find her mother, so she moved in with us. Yes, Marvin is a girl. One year later, the next two appeared together. My husband found them in an outbuilding that we have. Again, we tried to find their mother, but could not. So, they moved in with Marvin. I named them Sassy and Baby.
The duck that I have had several brothers and sisters, but over the years, the flock has dwindled down to one. His name is Bob. We are trying to find another flock for him to join because ducks don't like to live alone. I wouldn't either.
So, that's my pets. During our home visits, I met some of your pets and found out that some of you do not have pets and that's okay, too. Pets are a lot of responsibility. They need much care and a lot of time. In one week, we will be starting school. I am very excited to get to know more about you. I'll see you soon!

My Family
Hello, again! I would like to tell you a little bit about my family. I am married. My husband is a carpenter and likes to build homes. My children are grown-up, but I still like to spend time with them when they are not working. My son, Rayce, works for the Scott County Recycling Center in Davenport. My daughter, Renee, is a teacher for Easton Valley High School. Renee has a fiance, Alex, and will be getting married next year.
The one thing that our family likes to do together is race motorcycles. In the summer, we spend most weekends at a race track. While the rest of them are riding, I'm watching and being their cheerleader! I've added a few pictures of us that were taken during the past year.
I'm hoping to get to know your family. Perhaps you can tell me about your family and what you like to do together.
Next week, I will add some information about my pets.

Hello!
Thank you for visiting my blog. This is the spot where I will tell about our daily preschool activities. Before school starts, I will be using it to post a few things about myself. By the time school starts, I hope that you will know me a little bit better. I am very excited about starting the school year. I have many things planned and have been preparing all summer long.
This is a picture of me unpacking some of the many boxes that I have received at preschool. We have received new toys and supplies.
I hope you'll check back on Monday. I will share a little more about my family and what I like to do when I'm not at school.

Thank you!
Hello and good-bye. This will be my last post for this school year. This year certainly did not end the way I expected or wanted it to. ...
