Hello!  I hope you enjoyed the pictures of the teachers that I posted yesterday.  We miss everyone and wish we were back at school!  I've started to receive the face drawings for the T-shirts.   They are wonderful!  Grown-ups:  please send me a drawing even if you're not ordering a shirt.  I'd like to have everyone's art work for this project.  Thanks!

Movement:  For a movement activity, I'm sharing the link to Listen and Move.  This is one of our favorites.  It's the one where we have to listen to the music and remember the activity to go with it.  I'm sure you"ll remember that we move all over the room when we do this one.  You might have to do some of the movements in place if you don't have enough room to move without bumping into something.                                                                                            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j24_xH5uvdA&list=RDj24_xH5uvdA&start_radio=1

Story:  The Lois Ehlert story that I would like to share with you today is Pie in the Sky https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TceUMI4jBpE  I like this book because it has two of my favorite things in it, birds and pie! Do you think pies can grow on trees?  What does that mean when the dad in the story says the tree is a pie tree?   Take a few minutes to look at the art work in this book.  Lois Ehlert has created the pictures by cutting and gluing papers and other items.

Math:  For this math activity, you are going to make tally marks to count birds.  If it's nice outside, you can do this in your yard.  If not, you can look out of the window.  You will need a piece of paper and crayons.  Watch for birds in the grass, in the trees, or flying by.  Notice the color and use the same color of crayon to make a tally mark (a line) on your paper.  After a few minutes, count how many tally marks you have of each color.  Of the birds in your yard, what color did you have the most of?  What did you have the least of?

Fine Motor/Science Activity:  You can make a bird feeder to put in your yard to attract birds.  Take a piece of bread and let it dry out for a little while.  Now spread peanut butter on the bread.  If you have bird seed, press the bread into the bird seed so that it will stick to the peanut butter.  If you don't have bird seed, you might have some cereal that birds like such as Cheerios or Fruit Loops.  Now place it outside where the birds will find it such as a tree branch or bush.  When my kids made these at home, we used cookie cutters to make fun shapes with the bread before we spread on the peanut butter.

Here are pictures that I've received this week!  Thank you!

Thank you!

Hello and good-bye.  This will be my last post for this school year.  This year certainly did not end the way I expected or wanted it to.   ...
